A residential aerobic treatment unit should be filled with clean water, usually from the homeowner’s water supply.
Once all of the proper connections have been completed, including drain lines, discharge lines, and 115v electrical, the tank has been filled with water and the components have been tested, the system is now ready to operate and should be left on at all times.
It should be expected for the start-up process to take ten to twelve weeks to develop a population of microorganisms or bacteria that can properly digest the wastewater from normal household use.
